a new year

With the start of a new year always comes New Years resolutions. I've never been big on making resolutions because honestly I'm not that great at following through.
  • I mentioned in my previous post that I started Weight Watchers and would like to shed a few pounds.  I say it every year so we will see if this year is a repeat of prevoius years or I actually follow through.
  • I feel like such a five year old to admit to the blog world (or the few people who read) that I have a problem with picking at my fingernails.  I have done it my whole life.  I don't do it in response to nervousness or for any particular reason - just a nasty habit - and my hands are not pretty because I have tiny fingernails.  So, this year I am changing that.  I already have a date with a few girlfriends for Saturday to go get pedicures and manicures and shellac will be going on these bad boys.
  • Drink more water.   There's no explanation really needed.  I just need to do it.
  • Become a National Board Certified Teacher.  I'm in the process of working on my certification as we speak.  My portfolio is due March 31, computer assessments are due in June, and I will find out the week before Thanksgiving 2013 if I passed.  National Boards is a "rigorous professional certification process comparable to those found in other professions such as medicine, engineering, and law" (www.nbpts.org).  I'm not doing it just for the bonus I will get for the next ten years, but that's definitely a perk!
My resolution list isn't long because that's just not realistic and I will be spending a lot of my time focusing on National Boards.  I honestly just want to live my life to the fullest this year.  I have a feeling 2013 will be a very good year! :)
